I’d like to thank my cats
You are receiving an award — either one that already exists, or a new one created just for you. What would the award be, why are you being honored, and what would you say in your acceptance speech?
If I was receiving an award, I would love for it to be based on my writing. There are awards such as the Nobel Prize in Literature, the Emmy for Screenwriting or even a Pulitzer Prize for Journalism that I would be honored to win. It would show that I’m being recognized for my hard work and creativity.
People like Ernest Hemingway, who won a Nobel Prize in Literature in 1954 for his work in The Old Man and the Sea (Classic Literature) and Moira Walley-Beckett, who won an Emmy for a Drama Series for Breaking Bad in this year’s 66th Primetime Emmy Awards (USA Today) are just two of the many well-known creative artists.
Overall, I would love to just win any award. These awards are so sophisticated, so I wouldn’t mind winning a fun award like a Teen Choice Award or even a Blogger award. It was the first year that the Teen Choice Awards had a Digital category which included awards such as “Choice Web Star” and “Choice Viner.”
I think what’s fascinated about my generation is that we’re branching out of the old traditions and making our own. To have awards that we can relate to on a personal level is amazing! When I do (if I do) dabble in Youtube, I’m closer to getting awards like this.
I think being honored for doing something you enjoy must feel like the greatest thing in the world. When I was in middle school, I won an award for having the best essay. Although I didn’t get a physical award, I was awarded a book by the writer and a small recognition message for my essay. For such a small thing, it brought me happiness.
I believe I would be those people that won’t have an acceptance speech prepared. I suck at improvisation, but the first people I would thank is my family. I would give special recognition to my parents. Then I would thank the people that helped me to make my writing bigger and better. From editors to a possible agent that got me to where I’m standing today. As I hit the end of my speech, I would thank anyone who had read my writing and give advice to future writers who are striving to accomplish the goals I’ve done.
This was the perfect prompt for the awards shown this week. What award would you like to receive and why?
