The excitement never ends
Tell us about the last thing you got excited about — butterflies-in-the-stomach, giggling, can’t-wait excited.
Since last semester, I’ve been thinking about studying abroad. I’ve always heard of studying abroad since high school and I always wanted the opportunity to take advantage of it. My dream was to study anywhere in Europe or just outside of the country.
Once this semester started, I began researching and looking through different universities I can study. I even considered other SUNY schools’ study abroad programs. But it all came down to two schools for the spring semester.
After filling out the application, writing two essays and tracking down my professor, I waited for an acceptances.

I’ve been enjoying taking photos and showing them off to you guys! The Saturday in NYC post really inspired me to continue to show off photos I’ve taken. So here’s just some from the past few weeks or so.

Are you comfortable in front of people, or does the idea of public speaking make you want to hide in a bathroom? Why?
The idea of public speaking makes me nervous. When I have to talk in front of people, my face gets bright red and I start to ramble a lot. My freshmen year of college, one of the first courses I took was Public Speaking. As a journalist, it’s easy for me to talk to someone one on one. But, when it comes to presentations or just participating in class, I freeze up. Something about every one’s eyes on me makes me want to turn the other way.
Over the years, I’ve gotten better at public speaking. The class taught me how to take your time and be comfortable talking in front of people. Every semester, my goal is to participate more. So far it’s been good, but I can definitely be participating more in my classes.

So Sunday I returned back to college! I moved into a corridor style hall with a new roommate. I can’t believe I’m in my third year of college, time flies by so fast. It’s only Thursday and I already went through all my classes. I even returned to my work study position where everyone was happy to see me return. It’s finally great to be doing something other than lounging around all day.
Here are my classes this semester:
Creative Writing Workshop: I’m so excited for what this class has in store for me. I declared my minor in Creative Writing last semester and I can’t wait to learn. The class is going to help me write more in a style that is different than Journalism. I’m also going to learn more authors, styles and readings. On the first day, the whole class already know that I use to write fanfiction. It can only get better from there.
Digital Storytelling: I might continue to repeat myself, but I’m excited for this one too. In this class, I will be shooting and editing videos. I would say this is my most expensive class because I just had to purchase an external hard drive and boy was that pricey! But I also love tech things, so I know I will be using this for the rest of my life. Aside from the class, I had the professor already, so I know I will learning a lot.

Another school semester will soon begin. If you’re in school, are you looking forward to starting classes? If you’re out of school, what do you miss about it – or are you glad those days are over?
This Sunday I will be moving back to campus into a new dorm with a new roommate. I also can’t believe that the next day, I will start my first day of classes. I remember when I was just a nervous freshman wondering what college was going to bring me. Now, I’m going to start my third year!
I’m excited to go back to school for the fact that summer wasn’t really fun. I did a few things, but with a lack of job and the poor excuse of being an intern (a story for another day…) the summer sucked. I wasn’t earning money and as a result I stood home most the summer.
Now don’t get me wrong, I had really good memories this summer. I went to two book signings and events like Bookcon, graduations and concerts (Little Mix, Katy Perry & Ariana Grande). I became healthier, cooked more meals at home and read some amazing books (Looking For Alaska, Attachments…).
